I’m Tex Burns and this is my personal website.

The nickname Tex came about when the family moved to Florida. In the panhandle, everyone can spot a “foreign” accent.
Growing up on the base I was always more interested in signals intelligence than defense. The loudness and spectacle of the A-10s were obvious, but the RC-26 was rarely mentioned in open conversations. That mystery always captured my attention.
Getting involved in low-level drug trafficking derailed my future military aspirations, and I shifted my energy toward civilian pursuits.
Over time, I began to notice an overlap between these areas of interest, and I finally decided to document some patterns. It started when I met “Bill,” a former CIA pilot during the Vietnam era, at a parole office. Bill had been caught in a sting operation for flying drugs out of a local airfield, his crime was simply referring another pilot. [conspiracy]
The government [representatives] never came forward to speak on Bill’s behalf at trial. I quickly realized that, sometimes, because of the bigger picture, loyalty is not a two-way street. Within a few years, I personally witnessed small segments of the Iran-Contra scheme while living in south Florida, where similar pilots were allowed to freely violate laws [for the bigger picture].
My work on this website is to document and add context to these persistent patterns. I am not an investigative journalist, I view my work as curation.
